Tech Layoffs In (2023): The last 6 months have been very critical for employees, working in tech firms, in the very first month of the new calendar year big tech giants have sacked employees at a large scale, citing cost-cutting due to microeconomic pressure. According to the updated data on layoffs.fyi, Almost 332 tech companies have laid off about 1,00,746 employees in 2023 so far.

2023 is turning into as nightmare for tech employees

2022 was bad for tech employees but the year 2023 is turning out to be a nightmare for them. It’s been only about one and a half months and 2023 has witnessed mass layoffs at a very large scale. Big tech giants such as Google, Salesforce, Microsoft, and Amazon are among the companies that have had mass layoffs. According to layoff.fyi Google had laid off 12,000 of its employees, which is 6 percent of the total workforce. Microsoft had let go of around 10,000 employees, while Amazon sacked around 8,000 working professionals.

Microsoft — 10,000 employees (5 percent of the total workforce)

Amazon — 8,000 (3 percent of the total workforce)

Salesforce — 8,000 (10 percent of the total workforce)

Dell — 6,650 (5 percent of the total workforce)

IBM — 3,900 (2 percent of the total workforce)

SAP — 3,000 (3 percent of the total workforce)

Zoom — 1,300 (15 percent of the total workforce)

Coinbase — 950 (20 percent of the total workforce)

Yahoo — 1,600 (20 percent of the total workforce)

GitHub — 300 (10 percent of the total workforce)
